When recoloring leather which has cotton stitching/threads in a contrasting colour it is important to prevent any dye from coming in contact with the cotton threads, once dye has penetrated the threads it is very difficult to remove as usually it will permanently stain the cotton threads. The Colourlock Seam Blocker Pen is a preventive measure. It will coat the cotton threads in a dye blocker which provides a barrier to ensure that the dye does not penetrate into the cotton. After carrying out your repair you can clean off the dye blocker with our leather cleaner. Alternatively you can use our narrow masking tape (5mm width) designed to cover stitching which can also be found on our website. As always you must take care not to allow any dye to come in contact with the stitching at all, even with masking tape and dye blocker it is best to keep colours and dyes away from the cotton stitching at all times.
