Custom Colour-Match Guide

Important information

  • We do not colour-match from photos or online swatches – Screens, lighting and cameras alter colour; results are unreliable.
  • Lighting matters – We formulate under neutral light; colour can appear different under warm/cool lighting (metamerism).
  • Selective repairs – A factory-formula colour on aged leather can look newer next to worn panels. We’ll advise blending where appropriate.
  • Professional Restoration Services available from our Certified Servicing Partners – Factory-finish results with your choice of matte / semi-matte / semi- gloss and multi-layer OEM top-coat. Ask for an assessment.

Pick the best path

A) VIN / Manufacturer Enquiry (factory formula)

Choose this if your leather is newer with minimal fading/discolouration of surrounding surfaces and you want the original factory shade.

B) Physical Colour Sample (1:1 aged match)

Choose this if your leather is older or shows visible fade/discolouration of surrounding surfaces, and you need the mix to match the surrounding current & aged tone.

A) VIN / Manufacturer Enquiry — steps

Best for: newer leather; selective repairs may look fresher than surrounding areas if used for older leather.

  1. Provide us with your VIN [Vehicle Identification Number] and vehicle details (make, model, and year).
  2. We’ll contact the manufacturer directly to retrieve your interior leather colour name and code.
  3. Our Colour Lab will confirm and cross-reference the colour with our OEM database.
  4. Once confirmed, we’ll notify you to proceed with your order.
  5. Turnaround: ~1–2 business days after payment to mix, then dispatch.

Notes:

  • This returns the factory-new tone. For older leather, consider blending adjacent areas or use Path B to match patina.

B) Colour Match from Physical Sample — steps

Best for: older leather with fade/discolouration; ensures a 1:1 match to what you send.

  1.  Select a removable piece in the target colour (e.g., headrest, small trim insert, gear-knob shroud, centre-console lid). Please ensure the piece is minimum 2cm*2cm for an accurate reading.
  2. Include with the sample – your name, order or email, phone, model/year & leather colour.
  3. Post to:
    COLOURLOCK Australia
    PO Box 185
    Coburg Post Office
    COBURG VIC 3058

o Please pack securely, protected from bending/heat; mark “Sample to be Matched – [order number if any]

  4. Email us the tracking number and details of the areas you plan to repair – we can guide you on how much you require.
  5. Upon receiving the sample, we confirm receipt, order/invoice (if not already paid), then mix.
  6. Turnaround: ~3–4 business days from sample receipt, then dispatch.
  7. We return any samples with your order or by pickup—please advise preference.
